Québec History 10 – The Acadians Deportation

Québec a Nation History (Part 10)

The Acadians Deportation

The Acadians are the descendants of the French who settled in Acadia located in the Canadian Maritime provinces Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and in the US state of Maine. Acadia was founded in a region geographically separate from Quebec, Québecers and Acadians have different culture. But during the deportation many refugees move in Québec, today almost all Québecers can say they have a Acadian ancestor. In the Great Expulsion of 1755-1763, mostly during the Seven Years’ War, British colonial officers, New England legislators and militia deported more than 14,000 Acadians from the maritime region.

Many later settled in Louisiana, where they became known as Cajuns. University of Maine at Fort Kent history professor Roger Paradis said that this was a clear case of ethnic cleansing and genocide because, an attempt was made to make French Acadians disappear by scattering them throughout the 13 colonies. It was unnecessarily cruel in the sense that ships were overloaded, which resulted in disease, death, and the sinking of vessels. Families were broken up and the Acadians were sent to an alien and unfriendly land of exile.

    I dont think that Barack Obama was embarrased for being awarded the Noble Peace Prize for doing nothing for World Peace and only being in Office for 12 Days. I believe Barack Obama is a Narcasist. Baracak Obama is already an egomaniac. Have you noticed the portraits and pictures of him, in some of these pictures their is a halo around his head like the portraits of Jesus Christ. I believe that he thinks he is the Messaiah comming to rescue mankind and his supporters think that too.

  10. suryavajra says:

    Interesting you say …
    Interesting you say that. I actually think he was embarrassed and did not want the thing. It was the nominating committee that just announced it on him. Needless to say, many Americans including President Obama were more embarrassed than honored.

  11. suryavajra says:

    But that is really …
    But that is really admirable what he did. I really respect what he did.

  12. suryavajra says:

    I’m not his biggest …
    I’m not his biggest fan either. What really did it for me, was the last press conference where he really let loose and told everyone from the heart what he thought about the state of affairs, and really stood up to the media. I wish I had seen more of that President Bush, then all of the polished statements we had seen before.

    I was never that big of a Bush basher. i may of disagreed with him, but I never wanted to insult the man, you know?

    Obamania is OUT OF CONTROL. Get this the Noble Peace Commity awarded him the Noble Peace Prize and he did not do anything to deserve it. The Nobel Commity decided to give Barack Obama the Peace Prize after only servince 12 Days in Office. Bill Clinton did more for World Peace (Middle East Arena) and almoust brought peace to that region and he did not get a Noble Peace Prize. I bet Barack Obama is going to get the Noble Prize for Economics next year since he is doing so well with it

    George W Bush did not want to reveal what happend and that is why he did not invite or want the media to cover his visit which made his words and actions more pure from the heart and not faking it. President George W Bush came to the base and thought of the feelings and sufferings of the Troops and their families unlike Barack Obama, some times I wish that George W Bush was still President and I was not his biggest fan when he was President but compared to Obama he is super hero.

  15. suryavajra says:

    Yes, she really was …
    Yes, she really was more qualified given her immense background. I really grew to respect her as the campaign went on, and I ended up getting buyer’s remorse. I really like the way she handled herself in the primaries even when it turned against her. She was a real fighter and that’s what I like.

  16. suryavajra says:

    Come to think about …
    Come to think about it, I never head about what President Bush did after Fort Hood. Wow. He really has my respect there.

    I remember once that an Air Force Academy Grad and the President did a chest bump. So definitely a favorite of the soldiers…lol!

    @suryavajra
    The United States would have been alot better of had they elected either Senator John McCain or Secatary of State and former Sentator Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton was and still is much better qualified for the Presidency of the United States then Barack Obama. I hate Ted Kennedy for betraying the Clintons and supporting Barack Obama. Bill Clinton was the biggest fan of John F Kennedy emulated him while in Office and yet Ted Kennedy backstabbed them by voting for Barack Obama.

  18. UnitedEmpireLoyalist says:

    After …

    @suryavajra
    After George W Bush visted the wounded soldiers at Fort Hood, 1 day after Major Nidal Malik Hassan murdered 13 brave Soldiers and injured dozens. George W Bush came to the Base with no media and comforted the troops and their families. Barack Obama waited 5 days to visit the families of the dead, wounded and the soliders themselves and was not very sympathetic to them. George W Bush in my oppion is a much better person then Barack Obama. George W Bush as a heart unlike Obama.

  19. suryavajra says:

    Yes, He had really …
    Yes, He had really disappointed me with everything that has happened thus far. I voted for him thinking indeed that he would bring commonsense change. But as you can see, we are still where we were when we had President Bush.

  20. UnitedEmpireLoyalist says:

    @suryavajra
    I dont like Barack Obama. The Media was very biased towards him and were biased against both John McCain and Hillary Clinton. I believe that Barack Obama is worse then George W Bush. You have a man who said in the Campaign that he would have transparancy and yet you Bills being forced by Congress in the dead of night. Barack Obama unfairly criticised the Cambridge Massachussetts Police, He did not give much sympathy to the Fort Hood Victims and he is not helping Iran’s Democrats.

  21. suryavajra says:

    Yes he sure did.

    Yes he sure did.

    You are absolutely right there.

    So let me ask you. What don’t you like about the current President of the United States?

  22. UnitedEmpireLoyalist says:

    @suryavajra
    Congressman Leo Ryan’s aid who survived the massacre was Jackie Speier who succeded the late Tom Lantos as Member of U.S. House of Representives from California’s 12th Congressional Disctrict in 2008.
    I would have wished that Congressman Leo Ryan could have been President and he would have made a great one (Much better then the idiot in chief today).
    Congressman Leo Ryan risked his life to save others (99% of Congress would refuse to do) and he died very bravely in Guyana.

  23. suryavajra says:

    Yes, I know of him. …
    Yes, I know of him. He comes from a nearby district of my own. He is indeed a great hero of California and a hero of the United States.

    He certainly did not deserve to die there. I believe that his aid, who was shot at Jonestown is in California politics today.

  24. UnitedEmpireLoyalist says:

    @suryavajra
    You …

    @suryavajra
    You khow who my favourite American Politican was? His name was Leo Ryan (Member of the U.S. House of Representives for California’s 11th Congressional District 1973-1978). Congressman Leo Ryan tried to save the people at the Jonestown Compound in Guyana from the clutches of Reverand Jim Jones. Sadly Congressman Leo Ryan failed and was killed along with 4 others and day later the Mass Suicides/Homicides happend in Jonestown Congressman Leo Ryan is the only Congressman to die in duty

  25. suryavajra says:

    I see. Well I’m a …
    I see. Well I’m a politics and history aficionado my self, so I’m sure we will have a lot to talk about in the future!
