what do French-speakers call Quebec City?

Ville de Quebec? Cite de Quebec (accent aigu on the ‘e’) ? Quebec Cite? Something else? There has to be some way to distinguish between the city and the province. All the French-language maps that I have seen simply say "Quebec".

Both are called Québec.

There are no such thing as "provence". Its PROVINCES.

Its the word used before that tell if you mean the city or the province.
In french, when you talk about a city, you will said "à".
i.e; À Montréal, À New York, À Québec.

When talking about a province or a state, you will said "au" or "en".
i.e Au Québec, au Texas, en Ontario.

So: Je suis AU Québec (province…)
Je vais en vacances À Québec (the city…)

What are your views, anti-monarchist demo planned for first royal visit to Quebec in nearly 50 years?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jul/03/quebec-protest-prince-william-visit

You guys are just so f**king ignorant aren`t you.

The French people have every right to protest.

I mean before 1760, Canada was a French colony but after that, the British ruled them and killed a lot of the French people.

Ever since then, people are saying that Canada has always been British and is in our roots. But if we dig deeper in our roots, we find that we have French culture in our roots and if we dig even deeper than that, we will find out that Canada was once occupied by the Aboriginals.

And just in case if your wondering, i`m not a French-Canadian, i am from Ontario.

Support a Canadian head of state!!!

I have to travel from Ottawa to Quebec city; Is there any possibility to avoid Montreal traffic?

Every thing is pretty much in the question, but the traffic is realy bad, and I was wondering How can I avoid the downtown traffic, the champlain bridge traffic or even the 15 and 640 traffic.

Take Autoroute 50 East when leaving Ottawa to Mirabel, then Autoroute 15 South to Boisbriand, and finally Autouroute 640 East. That bypasses the main parts of Montreal. Autoroute 640 East eventually merges with Autoroute 40 East at Repentigny. Once there, you are just about two hours from Quebec City.

Do People in Quebec Look Down On France French? And Please Comment ON my English?

Do People in Quebec Look Down On France French?
I have Just Graduated and I can speak French But With a French accent I want to go travel through Quebec and I want to be able to speak to them without being spoken to rudley I can understand them as i Have watched shows on tva and radio-canada.
Thanks!

I don’t think they look down on France-French as being ugly or inappropriate, but I do think among some people there is the idea that France-French sounds haughty and arrogant. But I’m sure that as long as you are respectful of them and their culture you will be welcomed.

What to bring on a trip to Quebec City for 3 days?

Heyy, can u please help get a list of things to bring to Quebec City for 3 days. Thanks!

If you are going this time of year, I would bring shorts, capris, shirts, a sweatshirt and/or light jacket. I was just there on June 17-20 and the weather varied. It was warm for a day or two and it was chilly for the other days that I was there. The mornings can get chilly, so you may want to dress in layers.

Is their anybody that wants to move a team to Quebec City?

I know they deserve a team, but is their anybody that has talked about buying a team and moving them their? I know Jim Balsille wants to move a team to Hamilton, but is their any company or big businessman that wants to move a team to Quebec City?
No offense taken. That was actually pretty clever.

Pierre Péladeau has stated that he wants to bring a team back to Quebec and has already taken measures to have a new arena built in anticipation of a team being brought there. As much as it is killing Bettman, I think he is starting to realize that trying to create hockey markets in places where it will never happen is not working. I think within the next few years we will see a team back in Quebec and a team in Hamilton. If Bettman wasn’t such a fuçking idiot, Hamilton would already have a team. he better hope that Balsillie is still interested because Jim has the very deep pockets that Bettman wants and needs

What’s the must see attraction in quebec city during summer?

Actually we planning a short trip to quebec city from London Ontario & planning to leave london on July 1st & come back on July 4th by our small plane C-172.Never been in quebec city before.Whats the must see attraction during that time, please help…

Thank you

Well, there are tourist attractions that first-time visitors to Quebec City shouldn’t miss regardless of the season. These include the Château Frontenac (the city’s most easily recognizable landmark, which is also supposedly the most photographed hotel in the world), Vieux-Québec (the historic section of the city, containing houses from the 19th, 18th, and in at least one instance late 17th centuries), and the Quartier Petit Champlain (described as the oldest shopping district in North America.) You might also consider checking out the beautiful and surprisingly pastoral island adjacent to the city, the Ile d’Orléans.

Not working out for an entire week? Help? ( 10 pts! )?

So basically I’m going to Quebec with my parents and brother for the first week of July!
July 2 – 11 I believe. We will be staying in a hotel/with relatives, and I will be able to exercise for the entire time. We’re going to be sightseeing and walking quite a bit I hear, but some days we won’t be doing much at all.

I am a 16 year old girl, very active as it ( I work out 5 days/week for like an hour, sometimes I bike, go up/down stairs alot ) and I weigh like.. I don’t know, 97 lbs or something. ( I’m 5’1" )

I eat very healthily as well. I don’t eat fast food or chips, soda any of that crap. I like real, quality food. Whole foods!

Chances are, during this vacation I’ll have some fairly unhealthy/caloric things ( such as ice cream, and poutine – considering we’re going to Quebec! :P haha ) so yeah, some pretty unhealthy stuff with not much activity.

I won’t be able to go out for walks/runs or anything because I’ll be in an unfamiliar place. I can try to get some crunches and lunges and push ups and such in, but probably won’t be abe to.

Anyway, with this week affect me a lot? Will I become weaker/gain a bunch of weight, or anything like that?
Do you have any suggestions for when I return?

Please don’t be ignorant about this; if these kinds of questions irritate you, you don’t have to read them/answer – you’re obviously wasting your time if you do.

Any help is appreciated!!!!

i went on vacation last week, and i was all like "i’m going to excersize and eat healthy! i can do it!" well that plan DID NOT work. i was with my best friend who i think is anorexic and i just couldn’t handle going to all the restaurants and Disney World and stuff to make good choices. however many calories you are eating now, just increase them by 200-400 calories, so you will have many more options while on vacation, and not feel bad about eating poorly. you shouldn’t gain more than 5 pounds at the most, because of all the walking and sight seeing you’ll be doing. try your best to get as much excersize as you can without ruining your trip. maybe wake up earlier than everyone else and get some jump n jacks, sit ups, crunches, running in place, and other quick and easy exercises. but remember, you’re on vacation, and don’t deprive yourself of all the great food in Quebec, but eat in moderation, and if you want to indulge in something yummy, do it! but be sure to burn off those extra calories by getting some excersize before bed. maybe you could take one of those 10 minute solution excersize tapes from Walmart. they’re AMAZING~ have a great vacation and enjoy yourself! Good luck! :)
